junior age awards and competition

From the age of 7 (U8), juniors can begin to compete in inter‐club competition.

 

Club Level Events : To be eligible to partake in any events, they must have completed their Junior Activities preliminary and competition evaluation.

 

Non -Championship Events : As above (but be sure to check the Entry Requirements)
Championship Events : To be eligible to compete, they must have completed the preliminary evaluation, competition evaluation and age award.

 

NOTE:
    • Please refer to SLSA Surf sports manual for specific rules relating to competition within SLSQ.
    • The competition evaluation is based on the swim distances as per the current Australian Surf Sports Manual and is a minimum standard in the form of an open water swim.

The skills needed to compete in junior surf sports events are taught through specific lesson plans within the Age Guides depending on the age and level of skill progression.
They can also be taught through your own lessons created using the Junior Surf Skills Coaching Points or the SLSA Junior Coaching Manual.
