YOUTH OFFICIALS

make your mark at the waters edge

You already love the beach. You're part of the surf lifesaving community. Now it's time to step into a role that puts you right at the heart of the action — as a Youth Official.

As a Core / Youth Official, you'll help run junior surf sports events as a marshall, recorder, timekeeper, or finish judge - and if you're 15 or older, even as a judge in boat events. It's a hands-on role that earns you real respect on the sand and in the water.

why become a youth official?

  • Give back to the community — support the next generation of junior surf sports athletes and help events run smoothly and fairly.
  • Build real skills — develop communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities that go far beyond the beach.
  • Start a career in officiating — the Core / Youth Official award is your first step on a clear pathway toward senior officiating roles in SLSA.
  • Earn a recognised award — your achievement is formally recorded on your SLSA member profile.
