Meet the Women creating change!

From the feel-good moments to the women paving the way, meet some of the amazing faces from across our Sunshine Coast Surf Clubs who are inspiring change, creating opportunities and making a difference.

This is a space to celebrate the stories, achievements and initiatives that are helping create a stronger, more inclusive future for women in Surf Life Saving. From women stepping into leadership roles and breaking barriers, to clubs introducing new initiatives, building supportive networks and celebrating the incredible contributions of their members.

Every story matters, and every step forward helps pave the way for the next generation. We want to shine a light on the people, clubs and moments making a difference across our 15 clubs and celebrate the amazing things happening in the women's space.

Have a story to share or know someone worth celebrating? We'd love to hear from you! If your club is doing something fantastic to support, celebrate or empower women in Surf Life Saving, we want to help share it.

COOLUM BEACH - "Her Story, Her Voice"

A successful morning of connection at Coolum Beach SLSC

Stories, friendships and a shared passion for lifesaving took centre stage when women from Coolum Beach SLSC came together on Saturday 24 October for a successful networking session.

The gathering offered a welcoming space for members to connect, share experiences and celebrate the women who contribute so much to the club and community.

Guest speaker Sunaina Jaswal, QLD State DEI Manager, generously shared her story, while members’ individual “Her Story, Her Voice” profiles were displayed throughout the morning. These stories gave attendees the chance to discover more about one another’s passions, achievements and experiences—in lifesaving and beyond.

Coolum Beach SLSC Club Captain Gail King, who has organised these forums for the past four years, is encouraging all female members to continue sharing their “Her Story, Her Voice” profiles. The profiles will be collated into an uplifting journal celebrating their stories.

With quality food and plenty of coffee helping the conversation flow, members strengthened friendships, met fellow club members and explored ways to support and encourage one another.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Sunaina, everyone who attended or contributed their story, the generous goodie bag sponsors and those who helped bring the morning together. Their contributions made this celebration of connection possible.

Following the success of the morning, the club looks forward to more opportunities to connect throughout the season and to continuing to celebrate the women—and all members—who give so much to Coolum Beach SLSC and its community.
