The Sunshine Coast Branch Women's Advisory & Advocacy Group consists of 8 women from across the coast in various roles and from various backgrounds that have come together to create a safe for women to be supported across the coast.
KIRSTEN PHILLIPS - BRANCH EXECUTIVE REP
I have been involved in Surf Life Saving for over three decades, holding a range of leadership roles across Club, Branch and State levels in lifesaving, surf sports, member development and education. I currently serve as the Director of Youth and Membership for the Sunshine Coast Branch, where I am passionate about supporting our clubs, strengthening member experiences and creating opportunities for members to grow.
I have also had the privilege of being the Sunshine Coast's first female Director of Lifesaving, further strengthening my passion for leadership and creating opportunities for women in our movement.
Outside of Surf Life Saving, I work as a Director for Biosecurity Queensland and am a proud mum of two boys. One of my greatest joys is still age managing our Green Caps and helping introduce the next generation to the movement.
TONI READ - CHAIR
I am a dedicated Surf Life Saving member with over 20 years of experience across junior activities, surf sports, patrol, education, governance, administration and leadership. I currently hold roles as a Patrol Captain, Facilitator and Branch Education Coordinator, bringing a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to developing capability and strengthening our movement.
A self-described “lifesaving nerd,” I am passionate about continuous improvement, creating more opportunities for women in lifesaving and empowering the next generation of leaders to grow, develop and reach their full potential.
CAROLYN BELL
I am a community-minded professional with a background in clinical physiotherapy, leadership and program management, including managing rehabilitation programs for the Australian Defence Force. I am passionate about supporting people to reach their full potential, with a particular interest in empowering women, promoting gender equity and creating opportunities for women to thrive.
Having recently joined the Surf Life Saving community at Noosa Heads, I have been inspired by the organisation’s strong sense of community, teamwork and commitment to helping others. I am excited to contribute my skills and experience, build meaningful connections and support an inclusive environment where women feel valued, empowered and encouraged to take on new opportunities.
