Honestly, does it get any better than our beautiful Queensland beaches?

You can't beat the sun, sea and surf.

At Surf Life Saving Queensland we are passionate about giving you, your family and friends the best and safest beach experience.

Unfortunately, we are faced with some scary statistics:
  • 57% of people that drown on our beaches are young Aussies.
  • Almost 30% of all Queensland beach drownings are located within 200m of the red and yellow flags.
  • 75% of young Aussie kids rescued on QLD beaches were outside the flags.

How can we change that? Easy.

  • ALWAYS swim at beaches that have surf lifesaving patrols and only between the red and yellow flags.
  • Read the safety signs and understand the meaning of the flag colours which will explain the conditions of the water.
  • If you are unsure about the conditions, ask a life saver or lifeguard before entering the water.
  • If you are unsure about how confident you feel about the water, please stay in shallow water where you feel in control.
  • Swim with a friend where possible.
  • If you find yourself in trouble, stay calm and put your hand up for help.
  • Always supervise young children in and around the water.
