Surf Life Saving Queensland announces major partnership with SPEEDO

September 14, 2026

Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) welcomes Speedo back into the Australian surf lifesaving community through a new partnership, providing SLSQ clubs, members and athletes with greater access to recreational and high-performance swimwear.

The partnership brings together Speedo’s long-standing expertise in swimwear across Australia and the globe.

Under the partnership, Speedo will support the distribution of Speedo swimwear to SLSQ-affiliated clubs and programs, helping streamline the process for volunteer-run clubs while providing lifesavers and surf sports competitors with access to quality, purpose-built swimwear.

For SLSQ, the partnership represents an important connection between the organisation’s grassroots surf lifesaving community and a globally recognised aquatic brand, supporting members across patrol, education, training and competition.

SLSQ CEO Damien Marangon said the partnership would provide practical benefits for clubs and members while welcoming Speedo back into an environment closely connected to its Australian aquatic heritage.

“Surf life saving is such an important part of Queensland’s coastal identity, and our clubs rely heavily on strong partnerships to support the volunteers and athletes who make our movement what it is,” Marangon said.

“Having Speedo back in the surf through this partnership is a fantastic opportunity for our clubs and members. It brings together a world-renowned aquatic brand with a distribution network that understands the needs of community sport and our volunteer clubs.

“Ultimately, this is about making it easier for our clubs to access quality swimwear, while supporting the lifesavers and athletes who represent Queensland both on the beach and in competition.”

The partnership was officially launched on the Sunshine Coast, with SLSQ joined by Olympic and Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Lani Pallister, alongside representatives from Speedo and SLSQ.

Pallister, who hails from the Sunshine Coast, has strong connections to both swimming and surf lifesaving and continues to compete in surf lifesaving for her long-time home Club Alexandra Headlands when her international swimming commitments allow.

“Speedo started supporting me on my swimming journey in 2018, and I’ve been with them ever since. So having their support, it’s been absolutely tremendous for my surf life saving career and also my swimming career.”

“To see them back in the surf life saving space is incredibly special. They are a brand that grew up on Bondi Beach in 1928. So, it’s incredibly special for them to be stepping back into the surf lifesaving space,” Pallister said.

Anne Martinez, Head of Marketing Speedo Australia & New Zealand said the partnership marked an exciting opportunity to reconnect Speedo with Queensland’s surf lifesaving community.

“Speedo has an incredible heritage in Australian aquatic sport, and this partnership is an important step in reconnecting the brand with clubs, athletes, and coastal communities at every level.”

Building on Speedo’s appointment of School Locker as its exclusive licensee across APAC, this partnership integrates Speedo’s technical design with School Locker’s statewide logistics, giving SLSQ clubs streamlined access to world-class swimwear, easing administrative burdens on volunteer committees.

Kaine Escott, CEO, School Locker said “Surf Life Saving Queensland is a hugely significant partnership as we re-establish Speedo as a major force in surf lifesaving. Speedo has an incredible heritage in Australian aquatic sport, and this partnership is an important step in reconnecting the brand with clubs, athletes, and coastal communities at every level. It will create greater choice and new opportunities across Surf Life Saving Queensland, and School Locker is incredibly proud to be delivering this partnership.”
