SLSQ Strategy Day – Looking Ahead Together

September 9, 2025

Recently, the Board, State Council, State Officers and Executive Leadership Team gathered at Coolum SLSC for our annual Strategy Day. It was a chance to step back, reflect on where we are and set the course for the year ahead.

The day focused on some of the big themes shaping Surf Life Saving Queensland. from how we align our budgets and plans with strategy, to improving the experience of our members and volunteers.

Planning for sustainable infrastructure was high on the agenda, with conversations around how to future-proof facilities and better prepare for climate and environmental challenges. Technology was another key area, with plans for a roadmap that supports innovation, improves member experience and strengthens data security.

We also looked at how we can simplify governance, reduce red tape and make decision-making clearer and faster. Another focus was ensuring we have the right people, resources and systems in place to support our clubs and members into the future.

The insights gathered will guide our work over the coming year and keep us on track to deliver our Strategic Plan through to 2027. Most importantly, the day reinforced that our strength lies in working together across every level of the movement.

Our Priorities for 2025/2026

  • Growing, retaining, and engaging our active membership
  • Delivering and embedding the 2030 Strategic Plan
  • Developing sustainable, fit-for-purpose facilities
  • Enhancing learning, education, and training pathways
  • Ensuring sustainable and accessible insurance coverage

As we head into the new season, these priorities will shape not only the work of the Board and Council, but also how we support our clubs, volunteers and communities every day. By focusing on growth, sustainability and innovation, we are positioning Surf Life Saving Queensland to remain a resilient, future-focused organisation.

Together, with the dedication of our members and the strength of our movement, we are confident that 2025/2026 will be a year of progress, collaboration, and impact — keeping our beaches safe and our organisation strong for generations to come.
