The SLSQ Board is pleased to announce the recent appointments of Shane Mackenzie as Deputy President and Manuel Barth as Director of Finance.

President Gerard O’Brien stated, “We are delighted to announce Shane Mackenzie has been appointed as Surf Life Saving Queensland’s Deputy President. Since his election to the Board in September 2022, Shane has served as Director of Finance, bringing deep financial and commercial expertise. His background as a Director of Finance at Club level further enhances his ability to understand and address the strategic and operational challenges faced by our volunteers and Clubs. The Board is fortunate to have secured a well-credentialed replacement for Shane as Director of Finance. Manuel Barth has actively contributed to the Finance and Risk Management Committee throughout 2023, bringing extensive experience in Finance, Auditing, and Risk Management.”

Mr. O’Brien added, “These two appointments significantly strengthen the Board’s commercial experience base as we work towards fulfilling the organisation’s new Strategic Plan and seizing the opportunities ahead in the years to come.”

The Board is actively seeking to fill the remaining vacancy for an Independent Director, with expectations to complete the process early in 2024.
