Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) has launched Team Wellbeing today, on World Mental Health Day, with CocoCoast joining as the program’s named partner.

Team Wellbeing is a new statewide initiative that gives surf lifesaving clubs and members practical resources, tools and support to look after their mental health and wellbeing, both on and off the beach.

Every season, thousands of Queensland volunteers give up their weekends, early mornings and time with family to keep beachgoers safe. Team Wellbeing recognises that commitment. Its aim is to make sure the people who look after our community are looked after too.

CocoCoast Head of Brand Janelle Russell said the partnership was a personal one.

“I’m incredibly proud to support Surf Life Saving Queensland. As a lifesaver, a Nipper mum and a club person, I see the great work that happens every weekend, and member wellbeing is always front of mind for me,” Ms Russell said.

“My surf club has given me my people and a place I genuinely love to be. Through Team Wellbeing, we want to help more members feel that same sense of connection and support.”

SLSQ General Manager Membership and Marketing Zoe Bickerstaffe said the partnership would help SLSQ do more for volunteers when they’re off the beach as well as on it.

“Our volunteers give up countless hours to keep people safe, so we want to do everything we can to support them in return,” Ms Bickerstaffe said.

“Team Wellbeing is about giving clubs and members the resources and tools to build an even stronger, more connected surf life saving community. With CocoCoast’s support, we can go further in looking after the people who look after Queensland’s beaches.

“We thank CocoCoast for backing our members, and we’re looking forward to the great things we’ll achieve together.”

As part of the launch, SLSQ is looking for passionate members who want to help champion wellbeing in their own clubs. Members interested in getting involved can find out more here: Surf Life Saving Queensland | Surf Life Saving Queensland
