CPR and First Aid for Public
Our Provide First Aid course enables participates to develop the skills and knowledge required to manage emergency first aid situations and deliver competent emergency care until the arrival of professional medical support. The course includes cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as a component.
This course applies to all individuals or workers who may be required to provide first aid or CPR in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
On successful completion nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency will be issued:
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Entry Requirements:

| Assessment Condition | Perform at minimum 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor |

Introduction:
Learn how to:
- Respond to an emergency situation
- Apply appropriate first aid procedures
- Communicate details of the incident
- Review the incident
- Manage casualties, including:
- anaphylaxis
- asthma
- non-life-threatening bleeding
- choking
- envenomation, using pressure immobilisation
- fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, using appropriate immobilisation techniques
- minor wound cleaning and dressing
- nosebleed
- shock
Target Audience:
The Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines [10.1] recommend that refresher training in CPR is completed every 12 months.
The Safe Work Australia | First Aid in the Workplace - Code of Practice [July 2019] recommends the frequency of training for First Aiders as refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years.

Online material is mandatory for completion prior to attendance of Assessment Practical for this method.
