ALSQ-OBS
The aim of the Observers course is to develop your knowledge of surf awareness and skills‚ which will enable you to be able to read the surf, identify potential risks and hazards in the surf and identify persons in difficulty in the surf.
Introduction:
Target Audience:
- Applicants must be a minimum of 13 years old on day of course commencement.
Learning Outcomes:
- Surf awareness and skills: Identifying rips, different types of waves, patient recognition
- Communication: Signals
- Beach management
Learning Methods:
Blended Learning: Blended learning combines elements of both traditional classroom learning and online learning. It integrates face-to-face instruction with online activities‚ providing a hybrid learning experience that combines the benefits of both approaches.
Program Benefits:
- As an Observer, you will be able to supplement your First Aid or ART awards on patrol with the skills and knowledge to actively patrol the beach and assist in the surveillance of beach-goers.
