This is the SLSA Bronze Medallion which will also result in members successfully achieving the PUA20119 Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) qualification
Introduction:
The Bronze Medallion / Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) (PUA20119) course provides participants with the skills and knowledge of basic surf awareness in order to be able to participate in lifesaving operations. The course covers all aspects of Lifesaving including rescues‚ the provision of first aid‚ spinal management‚ radio communication and beach management. This is a core award to be a surf lifesaver in Australia.
Target Audience:
Course candidates should be a minimum 14 years old to commence training. Course candidates should be a minimum 15 years old at date of final assessment. Be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes or less (goggles and mask permitted) ‚ in a swimming pool of at least 25m in length or over a measured open-water course. As long as you are continuously swimming‚ you can choose your own swim stroke.
