Ian has been an active contributor to the lifesaving movement for over five decades. Joining Coolum Beach SLSC in 1974, he has served in multiple club leadership roles, including President and Treasurer, and is honoured to hold the title of Life Governor. Ian has also contributed at a broader level as Sunshine Coast Branch Deputy President, supporting governance, development and member services across the region. His involvement has spanned active patrol duties, competition participation, club leadership, governance oversight and commercial disciplines, reflecting a long-standing commitment to Surf Life Saving in Queensland.

Professionally, Ian is Executive Director at CV Services Group, where he leads enterprise risk, legal oversight and HSEQ governance across a national trade services organisation. His career includes close to 50 years of senior executive experience across energy, telecommunications, logistics and construction, with a background in strategic leadership, operational transformation and commercial governance. Ian holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Queensland.

Outside of surf lifesaving, Ian is an endurance sport enthusiast, regularly participating in lifesaving, running, ocean swimming and triathlon events. He also enjoys spending time with family.
