A Role for everyone

Whether you’ve recently retired or are looking for a new way to spend your time, surf lifesaving offers numerous roles that could be perfect for you.

Many people think that surf lifesaving is all about being in the water, but that's not the case. There are plenty of roles that don't require you to get your feet wet.

Beyond the beach

You can participate in competitions, attend training sessions, and even take on leadership roles within the club. These experiences not only enhance your lifesaving skills but also foster personal and professional growth.

You don't need to get into the water! While surf lifesaving often involves water rescues, many roles don’t require you to get in the water. You can be an observer, provide first aid, or support training sessions.

patrol with family

A place for everyone! Whether you’re a young child, a teenager, a parent, or even a grandparent, there’s a place for you in our community.

It’s a wholesome, family-oriented environment where you can spend quality time together and meet new people who share your interests.

You can be an observer, provide first aid, or support training sessions.

Make a difference

Every role in lifesaving is crucial, and your involvement will make a tangible difference in the lives of others.

Whether you’re offering first aid support, keeping an eye out for potential hazards, or mentoring new members, your contributions will directly impact the safety and well-being of our beachgoers and the broader community.

meet new people

Craving excitement, meeting new people, and a chance to make a real impact? Joining a Surf Life Saving Club offers all this and more!

Joining a surf life saving club is more than just a fun activity – it’s a way to give back to your community. By volunteering your time, you help keep our beaches safe for everyone. The feeling of knowing you’ve made a difference in someone’s life is incredibly fulfilling.

Plus, it’s a great way to build a sense of community and camaraderie. You’ll be part of a team working towards a common goal, which is both rewarding and inspiring.

new challenges

We only need 5 hours of your time ...which is one patrol a month. At lifesaving we know people have lives off the beach, so we only ask for time you can give.

Picture yourself patrolling on a jet ski, engaging in drone-assisted rescues, or participating in helicopter operations.

Joining a club is also a fantastic way to stay active. From surf sports, running on the beach and hitting the waves - we can keep you fit!

Nippers

Nippers is a program tailored for 5–14-year-olds and their families which fosters a dynamic environment for families to have fun and friendship and gain invaluable life skills.

Through engaging activities centered around surf safety, lifesaving techniques, and ocean skills, Nippers not only builds essential survival skills but also develops a level of camaraderie and teamwork.

These future lifesavers embark on a journey of personal development, instilling qualities of leadership that extend beyond the shoreline.

Whether you're delivering first aid, patrolling the beach, or guiding the next generation of lifesavers, every role plays a vital part in keeping our communities safe.
