Senior Procurement and Finance Officer – Sourcing the gear that saves lives!
Are you a proactive procurement professional with a passion for community service and operational excellence? Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is seeking a Senior Procurement and Finance Officer to be our go-to expert for sourcing quality goods and services efficiently, sustainably and strategically. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the procurement process within the organization, ensuring that goods and services are acquired efficiently, cost-effectively, and in compliance with company policies and regulations. This role involves strategic planning, supplier management, contract negotiation, and collaboration with various departments to meet the organisation’s procurement needs.
In addition, this role manages the Fleet contract and provides Finance team support particularly in the areas of Accounts Payable, but also in a backup capacity for Accounts Receivable

What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement procurement strategies and an organisational framework aligned with organisational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs, forecast demand, and develop sourcing plans.
- Monitor market trends, evaluate supplier capabilities, and assess risks to inform procurement decisions and mitigate potential disruptions.
- Develop and implement an appropriate procurement policy, with fit-for-purpose implementation roll-out.
- Streamline and develop listing of approved suppliers and where necessary, identify new suppliers, conduct vendor evaluations, and negotiate contracts to secure favourable terms and pricing, including credit limit revisions.
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations, addressing issues, and fostering partnerships for long-term success.
- Oversee compliance of the procurement process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, track expenses, and analyze spending patterns to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards in procurement practices, including adherence to procurement policies and procedures.
- Lead cross-functional teams for special projects, process improvements, and initiatives aimed at enhancing procurement efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and innovations in procurement to drive continuous improvement and optimisation.
- Manage and report on the motor vehicle fleet in conjunction with third-party fleet provider, ensuring existing fleet is adequately maintained, fleet replacement is effectively and efficiently planned and coordinated, and fleet management system is kept accurate and up-to-date.
- Administer vehicle corporate branding, fuel cards, traffic infringements, and servicing.
- In conjunction with operations, track and coordinate other fleet (trailers, Jet skis) with regards to ordering, registration and renewal, asset tracking, maintenance, and fuel card management.
- Assist in the areas of Accounts Payable and backup Accounts Receivable
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
- Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management, with a minimum of 10 years in a senior lead role.
- Strong organisation and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Sound understanding of procurement principles, contract management, and risk assessment.
- Ability to work in a multi-location. fast-paced environment, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
