Regional Operations Manager North Queensland – Lead the Wave of Change!

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for community service and operational excellence? Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) is seeking a Regional Operations Manager to oversee the North Queensland Branch. This pivotal role involves building and maintaining positive, sustainable relationships with regional staff and volunteer officers, providing support, advice, and guidance, and implementing SLSQ’s strategic programs to enhance operational services, club support, and SLSQ programs. The Cairns regional office is based in Smithfield.

What You’ll Do:

  • Leadership & Support: provide guidance and support to regional staff and volunteer officers, fostering a collaborative and effective team environment.
  • Strategic Implementation: lead the implementation of SLSQ’s strategic programs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and objectives.
  • Operational Excellence: oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery across the North Queensland Branch.
  • Relationship Building: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clubs, committees, and stakeholders to enhance community engagement and support.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational enhancements and drive initiatives to improve service delivery and program effectiveness.

About You:

  • Relevant Qualifications or Equivalent Experience: a degree in sports, recreation, business, or a related field, or substantial experience in a similar capacity.
  • Blue Card Holder: possession of, or the ability to obtain and maintain, a Working with Children Blue Card.
  • Lifesaving Expertise: in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in surf lifesaving or comparable community-based activities.
  • Regulatory Acumen: proven ability to interpret and apply legislation, regulations, awards, industrial agreements, and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: exceptional skills in building rapport and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: a commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of work, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive Interaction: demonstrated ability to engage effectively with management and staff at all organisational levels.
  • Analytical Thinking: strong problem-solving skills with a strategic approach to challenges.
  • Financial Management: experience in financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Organisational Excellence: outstanding time management, administrative, and organisational capabilities.
  • Client-Focused Service: ability to deliver services that prioritise client needs while adhering to legal frameworks and professional standards.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for various events throughout the year.
