Lead impactful surf‑education programs and membership engagement across Tropical North Queensland!

Are you passionate about community engagement and water safety? The Membership & Community Awareness Coordinator, will play a pivotal role in enhancing membership initiatives and delivering impactful community programs across our North Queensland region (from Port Douglas to Mission Beach). This position will be based in our Cairns office.

What You’ll Do:

  • Membership Engagement: collaborate with five regional clubs to develop and implement strategies for member recruitment, retention, and development.
  • Stakeholder Relations: foster strong relationships with community leaders, educators, and local organisations to promote SLSQ’s mission.
  • Program Delivery: coordinate and execute community awareness programs, educating diverse audiences on water safety and surf life saving practices.
  • Team Leadership: coordinate a team of casual Community Awareness Presenters, ensuring program excellence and consistency.

 

About You:

  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in coordinating, training and rostering a team across multiple sites.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to deliver engaging presentations to varied audiences.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strategic thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Active Surf Life Saving membership with a proficient Bronze Medallion (highly desirable).
  • Familiarity with SLSQ’s public safety community programs (highly desirable).
