SLSQ is searching for a Lifesaving Coordinator to support our Lifesaving Operations!

About the Role:

The Lifesaving Coordinator will support the ongoing operation and continual improvement of SLSQ’s Life Saving Services through effective contracts, maintenance and the development of existing and future practices, policies, procedures, and equipment. This role will work as part of a team to maintain SLSQ’s standing position as the ‘Peak Body’ for surf lifesaving services and standards to achieve its vision. This role will also grow and develop Surf Life Saving community volunteer Lifesaver Programs and services in Queensland, whilst working towards putting more beaches under guard. This role is based at our South Brisbane office.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and professional reports outlining key performance data such as but not limited to membership, turnover and service performance.
  • Maintain a register of all SLSQ operations policies, procedures and guidelines and ensure that they are updated yearly.
  • Identify and liaise with internal stakeholders and external sources to advise on development of new and enhancement of existing policies and guidelines and procedures.
  • Proactively seek new lifesaving practices, equipment or technology in the marketplace and conduct research and development into potential benefits or application by SLSQ.
  • Develop and maintain an annual training plan for new and existing Brisbane Lifesaving Service leaders and recruits, incorporating Surf Life Saving awards and relevant QFES accreditations.
  • Assist in the coordination and preparation of all Lifesaving Awards, including the lifesaving excellence awards and the SLSA Rescue Medal awards.
  • Coordinate Brisbane Lifesaving programs as per the SLSQ club operation and patrolling standards.
  • Maintain budgets for programs with agreed and approved limits.
  • Ensure that comprehensive patrol rosters are created and maintained for Brisbane Lifesaving and other programs that adhere to requirements.
  • Assist with the procurement and maintenance of equipment to ensure operational status at all times.
  • Develop and implement a membership development plan through effective and targeted recruitment and retention strategies such as but not limited to establishing and maintaining annual/seasonal workforce plans identifying minimum membership requirements and skill needs.
  • Attend the state IRB panel and other panels as the designated secretary and complete and distribute agendas, minutes, action matrix as per agreed standards and timeframes.
  • Maintain an asset register of all equipment purchased in support of lifesaving programs.

 

Skills & Experience:

  • Working with Children Blue Card (Essential).
  • Current Australian Drivers License (Essential).
  • Current bronze medallion or Certificate II in Public Safety and Aquatic Rescue (Essential).
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment or SLSA Trainers and Assessors Units (Highly Desired).
  • Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (Highly Desired).
  • First Aid Certificate (Highly Desired).
  • Hold a Certificate IV or above in Business Administration, Business Management or similar (Highly Desired).
  • Developing policies, guidelines and operations manuals (Highly Desired).
  • Reporting, writing letters and general administration (Highly Desired).
  • Empathy for and ability to work closely with volunteers.
  • Planning and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem solving skills.
  • Great presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding and willingness to follow protocol.
  • Outstanding organisation and time management skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and initiative.
  • Appreciation for surf lifesaving and volunteerism.
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel when required.
