About the Role:

SLSQ is looking for a motivated Instructional Designer to create effective and engaging learning experiences for our learners, both commercial and SLSQ members. This involves analysing learning needs, designing instructional materials and activities, developing assessments to measure learning outcomes, and evaluating the effectiveness. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility of FTE upon completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, training aids, and assessments, both accredited and non-accredited.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to analyse learning needs, identify learning objectives, and determine appropriate instructional strategies.
  • Design instructional materials, including storyboards, scripts, and interactive activities, using Articulate software (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise).
  • Utilise a Learning Management System (aXcelerate) to facilitate the delivery of programs.
  • Use instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and instructional technology to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Select or develop multimedia elements, such as graphics, animations, videos, and simulations, to enhance learning content.
  • Develop modes of assessment, such as tests, quizzes, or scenarios to assist with assessing a learner’s competency
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of instructional materials and make revisions based on feedback and assessment data.
  • Prepare and manage a detailed plan for each design project, including milestones, resources, issues and mitigants
  • Provide a high level of customer service to clients (internal and external, members and non-members)

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Working with Children Blue Card (Essential)
  • Proven experience in instructional design and development
  • Proficiency with instructional design software and authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar
  • Knowledge of learning management systems (LMS) and experience with SCORM
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with SMEs, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Experienced in LMS and SMS
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Qualifications in adult education/ education (Advantage)
  • Knowledge and experience in working with RTO’s and VET Quality Framework (Advantage)
  • Have some knowledge of national accredited qualification requirements (Advantage)
  • Ability to analyse problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and manage time efficiently
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
  • Innovative attributes
