Are you passionate about creating innovative and dynamic learning experiences? As an Instructional Designer, you’ll play a key role in crafting transformative learning journeys for both our commercial clients and SLSQ members. Your work will blend creativity and strategy to design impactful content, assess learning outcomes, and ensure that every learner walks away empowered and equipped for success. Collaborating with subject matter experts and stakeholders, you’ll help bring our courses to life, aligning learning objectives with real-world needs. This position is based in our South Brisbane office.

As an Instructional Designer, you’ll take on a wide range of exciting and impactful responsibilities:

  • Craft Engaging Learning Materials: design and develop top-tier instructional content, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, training aids, and assessments.
  • Collaborative Partnership: team up with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning needs, set clear objectives, and design solutions that resonate with your audience.
  • Design with Impact: create interactive storyboards, engaging scripts, and hands-on activities using cutting-edge tools like Articulate Storyline and Rise.
  • Harness Technology: leverage the power of Learning Management Systems (LMS) like aXcelerate to deliver seamless learning experiences.
  • Innovative Learning Solutions: apply instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and the latest instructional technologies to create content that engages and educates.
  • Visual Storytelling: select and design multimedia elements—graphics, animations, videos, and simulations—to enhance learning engagement and retention.
  • Assess & Measure Success: develop creative assessments like tests, quizzes, and real-world scenarios to evaluate learner competency and drive continuous improvement.
  • Continuous Improvement: regularly evaluate instructional materials and refine content based on feedback and data to ensure maximum impact.
  • Project Planning & Execution: prepare and manage detailed project plans—setting milestones, identifying resources, and mitigating risks to keep projects on track and on time.
  • Outstanding Service: provide exceptional customer service to both internal teams and external clients, ensuring a positive and smooth learning experience for all.

Candidates will bring:

  • Working with Children Blue Card (essential).
  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design and development—you’re a pro at creating educational content that sticks (essential).
  • Proficient with instructional design tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar software (essential).
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), SCORM-compliant content, and other digital tools that streamline the learning process (essential).
  • Qualifications in Adult Education/Education (Preferred).
  • Experience with RTOs and VET Quality Framework (Advantage).
  • Knowledge of National Accredited Qualifications (Advantage).
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with SMEs, stakeholders, and your team.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver results that exceed expectations.
  • Ability to think strategically and come up with creative solutions to challenges.
