Surf Life Saving Queensland’s Community Awareness Team delivers engaging programs that educate, inform, and inspire safer choices around water—empowering communities with the knowledge they need to prevent drownings and stay safe at the beach.

LITTLE LIFESAVERS

What is it?

This program is a great way to educate children on the important aspects of water safety, whilst also increasing their skills and confidence in the water with a variety of water safety and lifesaving techniques.

Why do it?

You will be teaching essential water safety and lifesaving skills through fun, hands-on activities. It’s the perfect way to inspire confidence in the next generation while spending your days outdoors making a real difference!

BEACH 2 BUSH

What is it?

Beach 2 Bush program offers students in regional areas an introduction to surf lifesaving and the vital water safety skills required to stay safe in an aquatic environment. The presentation is designed to increase awareness of the risks associated with the surf and show children how to minimise these risks.

Why do it?

If you're passionate about saving lives and love connecting with kids, this paid opportunity lets you travel, inspire, and teach the next generation how to stay safe around the water.

PRACTICAL BEACH PROGRAM

What is it?

The Beach Safe Practical Program combines dry and water-based activities activities that make learning fun and interactive. This program is designed for both children and adults, covering essential aspects of sun, surf and beach safety.

Why do it?

You’ll get to spend time in the sun, run interactive sessions in and out of the water, and teach people of all ages how to stay safe while enjoying our beautiful coastline.

WATER SAFE SCHOOL PROGRAM

What is it?

The Water Safe School Program is a Surf Life Saving Queensland initiative to help primary school-aged children stay safe in, on and around all types of waterways by learning vital water safety skills that they will keep with them for life.

Why do it?

You'll be teaching primary school students how to stay safe in, on and around the water, giving them the confidence to enjoy our waterways while preventing future tragedies. It’s fun, rewarding, and a chance to make a real difference where it counts most.

WATER SAFE SENIORS PROGRAM

What is it?

Our Surf Skills for over 50s, program is designed to increase knowledge of local beaches while greatly improving confidence in managing beach conditions and emergency situations. Facilitated by trained Surf Lifesavers who cater activities to suit individual capabilities.

Why do it?

You'll work with over-50s to build their beach confidence, boost their safety skills, and help them enjoy the surf with greater knowledge and independence. It's a rewarding role that empowers others while celebrating a lifelong love for the ocean.

SURF CREW

What is it?

The Surf Crew program hits the road over summer, visiting busy beach spots along the Gold and Sunshine Coast in a dedicated red and yellow vehicle. As part of this initiative, our team delivers free educational clinics daily, teaching beachgoers how to stay safe in the water.

Why do it?

Get paid to spend your summer by the beach! If you're 17 or older, join the Surf Crew team and hit the road in our iconic red and yellow van—meeting new people, soaking up the sun, and teaching lifesaving beach safety at some of Queensland’s busiest coastal hotspots.
