Use your safety skills, training and judgement to protect competitors at surf lifesaving sporting events.
Every surf lifesaving water event requires a dedicated and well-trained team of water safety officials working behind the scenes. As part of the water safety team at an event/activity, you will work closely with officials, water safety supervisors, Junior Activities Coordinators and/or first aid officers to ensure the safety of all members and participants when entering the water. During sports carnivals, IRB water safety officers can alsoact as judges, adjusting cans if and when required, and maintaining watch on all competitors in the water.
Applicants are required to hold a current Blue Card and the relevant qualifications to suit the type of role they will be undertaking as part of the water safety team. These may include SLSA Bronze Medallion/Surf Rescue Certificates, IRB Crewman’s Certificate or an IRB Driver’s Certificate.
