SLSQ is searching for a motivated Member Development Officer to join the team!

About the Role:

This role is responsible for supporting the delivery of SLSQ’s Member Development portfolio across all membership areas for the organisation. This role is based in our South Brisbane office.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Be an active team in member in the delivery of a range of initiatives that support the development and well-being of our members.
  • Coordinate a range of development camps and programs aimed at empowering our youth members.
  • Support coordination and project teams to deliver leadership programs.
  • Build strong relationships with SLSQ advisors and work collaboratively to achieve portfolio outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of SLSQ’s leadership development framework to build leadership capability and capacity across the state.
  • Attend SLSQ key working groups and committees as required.

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience within a membership organisation and associated delivery of programs and initiatives.
  • Strong communication and engagement skills including the ability to work collaboratively with people across the business and externally with key stakeholders across the state.
  • Demonstrated experience in event coordination and in-person programs.
  • Outstanding organisational, time management and prioritisation skills to manage a diverse workload with competing priorities.
  • Problem solving and diplomacy skills.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of surf lifesaving or a not-for-profit community-based organisation.
  • Understanding or experience in working with youth.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (volunteer management, marketing/ comms, business).

About SLSQ:

Surf Life Saving Queensland employs over 550 people throughout Queensland. SLSQ is an efficient and vibrant organisation servicing 35,000 members. It was formally established in 1930 and is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland, comprising 57 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches. The organisation also includes supporters’ clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants. SLSQ is directly affiliated with, and is part of, Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF). Surf Life Saving Queensland is built on a fundamental principle: to save lives. Our organisation encompasses several diverse arms – lifesaving services, community education, membership services, surf sports, fundraising and commercial training.
