Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ) was formally established in 1930, is the governing body for surf lifesaving in Queensland and comprises of 57 affiliated surf lifesaving clubs in six regional branches which service more than 34,000 members.

SLSQ employs over 550 people throughout Queensland and is an efficient and vibrant organisation. The organisation also includes supporters’ clubs and a range of programs that involve more than 462,000 participants.

SLSQ is directly affiliated with and is part of, Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) and the International Life Saving Federation (ILF). About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Digital Marketing Executive to assist in the development, execution and delivery of digital marketing strategies to achieve SLSQ’s organisational key objectives and position the brand as the peak authority on aquatic safety in QLD.

This role will drive success by supporting the Marketing, Media and Communications Team by managing a multitude of tasks including but not limited to digital marketing, website management, social media management, and developing and implementing activities within the scope of marketing, content creation, promotions, advertising, media and communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all social media content for SLSQ and its brands/clubs, including visual/written content creation, scheduling, publishing, etc.
  • Ensure social media content plans align with marketing campaigns and proactive/reactive media plans to deliver successful messaging and contribute to overall team goals
  • Use social media platforms to engage and grow the SLSQ community, according to agreed targets
  • Manage responses to all social media enquiries and messages in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Manage communications on the staff intranet
  • Manage the SLSQ websites, including website design changes, website development, content updates, reporting and analysis
  • Manage the Google Analytics account, ensuring the Marketing Manager is being kept well-informed through regular reports
  • Manage all ongoing SEO activity and SEM campaigns
  • Deliver monthly social media reports/analytics to Marketing Manager.
  • Source appropriate and engaging visual content for external communications through volunteers, clubs, media outlets and photographers, and maintain SLSQ’s visual media library for PR, social media and advertising
  • Create and write engaging copy for press releases, website content, newsletters, publications, and social media, as required and with the understanding of the content piece objectives
  • Assist with administrative tasks for the Marketing Team where needed
  • Assist the Marketing Manager with coordination and execution of branding and marketing advertising campaigns
  • Assist the Marketing Manager in coordinating direct marketing communications displayed at events or distributed internally and externally to ensure the timely promotion of public safety messages and upcoming events/offers
  • Successfully contribute ideas to enhance marketing, media and communications campaigns
  • Assist in crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Work with the Media and Public Relations Manager and media team during times of crisis to minimise the impact on brand through uploading/posting timely and approved messaging for all digital media channels
  • Develop relationships and engage with key staff members and volunteers to grow content opportunities and successfully complete tasks for the Marketing Team.
  • Proactively assist clubs in social media endeavours and develop positive working relationships with relevant club contacts.
  • Manage SLSQ’s response to all enquiries and/or complaints that are received via SLSQ’s official social media channels.
  • Ensure all responses are co-ordinated utilising the knowledge of key stakeholders/relevant staff at SLSQ to ensure all information provided is accurate.
  • Ensure appropriate sponsorship/partnership recognition and inclusion where contracted/required in all communications.
  • Effectively communicate and co-ordinate with external stakeholders and personnel including partners, patrons, advertising agencies, media outlets, printers, photographers and suppliers

About You:

  • Motivated and fast-learning with exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.
  • Flair for, and proven experience in creating vibrant and fresh digital content
  • Works well in a team, but remains focused in a busy environment
  • Ability to work autonomously to plan and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Flair for developing positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Passion and connection to Surf Lifesaving (Desired but not essential)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Ability to obtain a working with children Blue Card (Essential)
  • Degree qualification in relevant field (Marketing, Public Relations and/or a communications discipline)
  • More than 2 years’ experience working in a similar digital marketing role
  • Proven understanding of the Digital Marketing and Social Media landscape
  • Basic graphic design skills (experience using various Adobe Creative tools)
  • Ability to use Content Management Systems
