Chaperone

Nurture and protect your clubs junior members as part of the team responsible for the supervision of minors during tours, special events or activities that occur either at the surf club or while travelling

As one of your club’s Chaperones, you will play a key role in protecting and nurturing junior surf lifesavers.Chaperones undertake responsibility for supervising junior members and ensuring the well being and safety of children and young adults under the age of 18, particularly when away from home, during club programs where parents/guardians are not present, or when extra supervision is required.

The Chaperone will work within a team of key personnel including the Team Manager, Program Coordinator and/or Event Organiser who are ultimately responsible for the activity


Requirements

Club Chaperones are required to:

  • Be a financial member of the surf life saving club
  • Hold a valid Blue Card
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Preferably hold an Association Award—minimum of one (1) Chaperone in a group to
  • hold current First Aid Certificate and current drivers license
  • Have a solid understanding of surf lifesaving member protection policy, procedures and codes of conduct
