Currumbin Beach Vikings SLSC

Currumbin Beach Vikings Surf Life Saving Club is located right on Elephant Rock at the focal point of the Currumbin coastline.

The Club was established in 1919 and has a proud tradition of over 100 years of providing essential beach safety and lifesaving services to members of the public.

Currumbin offers lifesaving, youth development and surf sport activities from our nipper members aged 5 years and above through to our masters members.

Club members provide approximately 8000 volunteer hours to an estimated 40,000 beach patrons at Currumbin Beach during the official surf life saving season.

The surf club offers a great restaurant with panoramic ocean views, live music, raffles and members’ draws. The Vikings Room located on the top level is a popular venue for Gold Coast beach weddings, corporate events and other celebrations with 180-degree views of the Gold Coast skyline and beaches.

Currumbin Beach

This beach is a little off the highway, but a popular spot with swimmers, surfers, windsurfers and fishers.

Pacific Parade runs around the point and parallels the main 750m Currumbin Beach, providing good access to the length of the beach, with large car parks on the point and at Currumbin Surf Life Saving Club, located beside Elephant Rock.

The beach receives waves averaging 1.5m, which produce a 200m wide double bar system. The inner bar is usually attached to the beach and is cut by four rips, including a permanent rip against Currumbin Rock. The deep trough runs out past Elephant Rock all the way to Currumbin Rock, with the outer bar further offshore.

This is a potentially hazardous beach owing to the persistent rips and strong permanent rips against the rocks, particularly at Currumbin Rock. The safest bathing is at the inlet beach and at the southern patrolled end of the surf beach. Stay on the inner bar and well clear of the rocks and rips.
